News report says Lippi has signed a contract with China Champions Guangzhou Evergrande
Rome - Former Italian national squad coach Marcello Lippi has denied a report he had signed a contract with China champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
'It does not exists in the most absolute way,' the ADN-Kronos news agency on Thursday quoted Lippi as saying.
'There is absolutely nothing, zero point zero. It is a rumour that came out already 10 years ago, but there has been no contact with the Chinese club.'
Radio 1 reported early Thursday that the 2006 world champion had closed a one-year deal worth about 10 million euros (13.1 million dollars) with the Chinese Super League club.
Lippi, 63, has been unemployed since June 2010, when he ended a second term at the Azzurri's helm with elimination in the group phase of the World Cup in South Africa.
As club manager, he had his best results at Juventus, winning five national titles, one Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup.
