Jennifer Aniston gets dirty at MTV Movie Awards
Jennifer Aniston
America's sweetheart is a dirt bag – at least according to MTV.
Scooping up the first award of the night Sunday at the network's annual Movie Awards, Jennifer Aniston was crowned best on-screen dirtbag for her role as over-sexed (but still sexy) dentist Dr. Julia Harris, beating out costar Colin Farrell, Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), Jon Hamm (Bridesmaids) and Oliver Cooper (Project X).
Introduced by Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg, who made references to some not-so-dirty do-gooders in their introduction, including Mother Teresa, the actress was more than happy to accept the honor.
"Do you know how long I have tried to have somebody let me unleash my onscreen dirtbag?" Justin Theroux's girlfriend, 43, asked the star-studded audience gathered at Los Angeles's Gibson Amphitheatre. "A long time, and thank god this category just popped up."
But she hasn't forgotten her nice-girl roots. "I would like to say thank you to the television show Friends for letting me unleash my inner sweetheart," added Aniston, who rocked a little black dress. "And here's to [director] Seth Gordon for letting me be a dirtbag."
Much like their characters took down killer bees, blood-hungry mutts and those good-looking Careers, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence won big for their roles as Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, respectively, in the book-to-screen adaptation.
But the night's top honor favored fangs over fighting-to-the-death, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I was deemed the movie of the year. Once again, the smash franchise's stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, sealed a win in the best kiss category – their fourth victory since 2009.
Also receiving recognition: Johnny Depp, who took home the coveted generation award – or the "get-out-of-the-business award," as he jokingly described it.
