The seven-year-old Zhang Jingting is a grade one pupil in Hangzhou. On May 26, Saturday, the little girl had a lesson of "erhu", a Chinese traditional musical instrument, in the morning and a drawing lesson in the afternoon. There are 31 students in her class. Most of them had two or more classes of interests in weekends. Zhang Jingting is interested in drawing. Her mother made a good effort to sign up a drawing class for her in summer vacation. "Formerly, I think that she needs to learn all things. Nowadays, it depends on her interests," Zhang's mother said, "I do not expect her good score. However, I do not want my daughter to fall behind at the starting line."

It is the inner voices of most parents in China. Faced with an examination-oriented education system, their children are still burdened with an excessive workload. They work extra-long hours on school days and continue to have classes on weekends and holidays.
