Fresh from a film performance as a stripper in Pusher , due for release in the UK next year, supermodel Agyness Deyn has revealed that she is set to tread the boards.
She will play a promiscuous "free spirit" in the British premiere of Francois Archambault's The Leisure Society in February 2012.
She has fronted campaigns for Burberry and Giorgio Armani and appeared on the front cover of Italian and British Vogue, but she told the Evening Standard that acting was her true calling: "When I did Pusher in the summer, it was like: this is what I'm supposed to be doing. I just loved it so much and it excited me to be able to do it. I want to do it as much as possible - film, theatre, everything."
Sometime supermodel Deyn has been dabbling in acting for a while now, appearing in a short film Mean To Me , and most recently in this summer's Clash of the Titans , with a cameo role as Aphrodite, but this will be her stage debut. She will star as Paula in the "toxic comedy", about a dinner party that spirals out of control, alongside Ed Stoppard, best known for his role in the BBC's Upstairs Downstairs .
Can a theatre performance cement Agy's status as that most elusive of hyphenates - model-slash-actress? Let's hope she fares better than fellow catwalk queen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who came under fire for her lacklustre performance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon .
