ANGELINA'S ENGAGEMENT RING
From Angelina Jolie's engagement ring to New Orleans architecture, see how the newly engaged star puts his mark on the world.
NEW ORLEANS HOMES
Partnering with Global Green USA in 2007, Brad Pitt began building 150 affordable, environmentally friendly homes in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. "My hope is that we can grow this thing," the actor said of rebuilding the devastated area that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
ANGELINA'S GUN NECKLACE
"He has impeccable design taste," Jolie gushed of Pitt's aesthetic eye, which he wielded when he gave the actress a gun-charm necklace in 2008. "Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios," she explained to EW. "He's all into war and guns. So for Mother's Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It's really cute. I think it's really good!"
MAGAZINE PHOTOS
With their relationship still unconfirmed, the Mr & Mrs. Smith costars played house with a brood of blonde sons for a 2005 W magazine spread, which Pitt created with photographer Steven Klein. "He's the perfect muse," Klein said of Pitt, who designed a foreshadowing image of domestic bliss with Jolie. In 2008, after the birth of their twins, the actor snapped private photos of Jolie and their kids for the magazine. "I love his photography," Jolie said, adding, "He's someone who will really study the camera ... And he's very critical of his own work."
A DUBAI HOTEL
"Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion," Pitt said while announcing his next role offscreen as a part of a team of design consultants for a green hotel and resort in Dubai. "Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision."
THE ONE CAMPAIGN ADS
Teaming up with philanthropist rocker Bono, Pitt designed ads for The ONE Campaign, an effort by a coalition of aid groups to combat AIDS and extreme poverty around the world, which featured pal George Clooney and himself. "There's a real emergency," says Pitt. "Our fellow man is in dire trouble."
BEVERLY HILLS MANSION
In 2001, Pitt bought a Beverly Hills mansion with then-wife Jennifer Aniston, which he spent two years meticulously renovating for a reported $10 million to $15 million. When they split in 2005 and sold the 12,000-sq.-ft. French Normandy-style house for $22.5 million, Aniston admitted that she never cared for Pitt's modern style. When asked what she liked about being on her own, Aniston quipped to Vanity Fair, "I can have a comfortable couch."
ANGELINA'S ENGAGEMENT RING
Pitt designed Jolie's engagement ring with jeweler Robert Procop, who collaborated with the actress on "The Style of Jolie" jewelry line. "Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert," the jeweler said in a statement. "Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution."
