Artists, collectors and dealers from around the world thronged the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Wednesday for the preview of Hong Kong International art fair.
Known as Art HK 12, the fair showcases contemporary art from 266 galleries from 38 countries and regions. "We are delighted once again to welcome such a high caliber of art from around the world to Art HK 12," said Fair director Magnus Renfrew, adding that the fair continues to attract new participating galleries.
Art HK has been held in Hong Kong since 2008. The organizer said the success of the fair reflects the increasing importance of the Asian art market and the fact that Hong Kong is now the world' s third most important art market.
In addition to three gallery sections, Art HK 12 includes ART HK Projects section to show huge installation works, the ASIA ONE section to offer an international platform to Asian artists, and the ART FUTURES section showcasing works by emerging artists.
The fair will open to the public from Thursday to Sunday.
