The streamlined shape is a very stylish train. This is an experimental train built in Germany in the early 1930s.
A huge propeller behind the butt.
This was designed and manufactured by the German aircraft engineer Franz Krukenberg in 1929. Franz Krukenberg devoted his life to the design of the aircraft.
It is called Schiennzeppelin, is about 10 feet high, weighs more than 20 tons, and uses wheels over three feet in diameter. The engine is a BMW aircraft engine, which can accommodate more than 30 people, with smoking and non-smoking areas, a dining area and a bathroom.
The German government invested a large amount of money in this project. It took only about a year to build the machine from scratch, with eight engineers and thirty workers.
After the train was built, they were ready to test it, but they ran into trouble because there was no insurance company in Germany that would insure it. In the end, they sought insurance from Lloyds in London, who developed an insurance policy that was not cheap.
On May 10, 1931, the train surpassed the speed of 200km/h for the first time. On June 21, 1931, this train set a new world speed record on the railway-230km/h. Such a speed is quite remarkable.
When the Second World War approached in 1939, Hitler focused on the war, and the experimental train project was abandoned. If there were no World War II, this German railway construction would be really incredible.
